Where water enters a material balance
Water can contribute to material mass without appearing as the peptide signal used in a chromatographic purity calculation. A water-content result therefore answers a different question from a peak-area percentage.
For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
If a report supplies a material-balance calculation, inspect the components and basis it uses. Do not construct a complete balance from fields that were not measured. Retain an unreported water value as a gap.
Reading checklist
- Identify the calculation basis
- Use only reported components
- Keep unmeasured water content explicit
