Water content in analytical reports
Water content is a separately measured property when a report includes it. Its interpretation depends on the method and whether the result is expressed as a mass fraction, percentage or another stated basis.
For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
A chromatographic purity figure cannot stand in for a missing water measurement. Keep the result with its units and avoid assuming that the dry appearance of a material establishes its water content.
What to retain in a research record
- Measurement method
- Units and basis
- Whether the field was actually reported
