Reading charge states in a peptide mass spectrum
The same peptide can appear at different m/z values when its ions carry different charges. A peak position should be read with the assigned charge state rather than compared directly to a neutral mass value.

Use the report's assignment and supporting spectrum when supplied. Do not infer a different compound simply because a labeled peak is below the catalogued molecular-mass number. Check the analytical context first.
