Mass-to-charge ratio

Mass spectrometry distinguishes ions by mass-to-charge ratio, written m/z. Interpreting a peak requires an ion assignment and charge information, not just a comparison to a neutral molecule mass.

For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.

A peptide can produce more than one charge state. Keep the spectrum label and assignment together when reading an identity result. A reported match is evidence within the stated method, not a complete reconstruction of every structural feature.
