Limit of quantitation
A quantitation limit concerns the level at which a method can report a quantitative result under its stated performance criteria. Detecting a signal and quantifying it reliably are different capabilities.
For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
Preserve below-limit qualifiers in tables and exports. Do not replace a qualified result with the limit itself as though that value had been measured. Any treatment of such results in a summary should be explicit.
What to retain in a research record
- Method performance criteria
- Reported limit and units
- Handling of qualified values
