Reading one-letter and three-letter amino acid codes
One-letter and three-letter amino acid codes are compact ways to represent residues. Translating between them should preserve the sequence, direction and any notation that specifies chemistry beyond the residue list.
For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
A terminal H or OH in a source notation may describe an end group rather than an additional residue. Do not count every token separated by a hyphen as an amino acid. If notation is ambiguous, retain the original text with an explanatory note.
